This example is based on a simplified energy systems model (ESM) called SIMPLE. The model maintains relevant parts of the model structure that can be found in many ESMs but is at the same time compact and comprehensive.
Its original purpose is automated creation of model instances of variable size and complexity that allows convenient experimentation with scalable but still simple ESMs.
For this MIRO application, an automated input data generator creates data for the 16 German federal states. The maximum time horizon is one year in hourly resolution.
